The OECD 458: Androgen Receptor Transcriptional Activation Test uses androgen receptor transactivation to screen for the presence of androgen disruptors (agonists or antagonists). This in vitro assay measures gene transcription and translation to measure androgen receptor binding, whether agonistic, antagonistic or selective-modulatory. 

Enzyme transformation produces a bioluminescent output, which is measured with a luminometer.

This capability is for an in vitro assay suitable for Level 2 endocrine disruptor testing.
